Uniform Policy

Introduction

An officer's uniform is a very important part of his job and should be maintained and kept in a presentable condition. It displays professionalism and creates a first impression on Citizens..

Dress and Personal Appearance:

All members of a department are to be clean and well-presented at all times when on duty or representing the department.

Hair:

For all genders, hair must be of natural-appearing color; no unnatural or outlandish colors are allowed.

For men, hair must be cut short, may not cover the ears, and must be well-groomed, clean, and professional when at work. Facial hair is permitted, but must be professional, well-groomed, and trimmed.

For women, hair may be of any length. However, it must be worn tied into a single bun or a ponytail if long. Short hair may be worn loose, but must not touch the shoulders.

Cosmetics:

Females are allowed to wear cosmetics, but they must be conservative (moderate, not excessive) and in good taste. Cosmetics, such as lipstick, eyeliner, and eyeshadow, must not be in fluorescent colors or distract from the uniform (colors such as bright red, green, purple, and blue, and any color in this fashion, are not authorized).

Males are not authorized to wear cosmetics.

Cosmetics are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by Department Chain of Command.

Jewelry:

Females are allowed simple stud earrings while on duty. They may NOT wear hoops, or any other earring that protrudes from the ear excessively. Males are not permitted to wear earrings while on duty.

Watches are permitted to be worn on duty, but must be neutral colors (no fluorescent green, firetruck red, etc). and conservative in design.

Tattoos:

Tattoos are permitted, but must not be offensive or suggestive in nature. Tattoos must not be on the face, neck, or hands. Sleeves are permitted, but must follow the guidelines outlined in this section.
