Station Balancing

When staffing a station and there is more than four (4) personnel on at one station, please attempt to staff other stations in the AOP so that resources can be spread throughout the county so that the server might run a little more smoothly.

Incident Command System (ICS)

The Incident Command System (ICS) is an organization system used on any emergency scene to distribute resources to work on multiple jobs at once and to separate responsibilities between all units on scene. When arriving on-scene, The first unit on-scene performs a size up and takes command, and remains as command until on-duty command staff in another apparatus arrives on-scene or when the Command vehicle arrives on-scene; they will take command. Ex: “Engine 50 on-scene of a 2-story residential structure with flames showing from the roof. Engine 50 will have Panorama Command”. There is no medical and fire command, just one person as command organizing all fire/rescue/ems ops.

- Job of Scene Command: Coordinate triage of multiple PTs using color-coded triage scale, Coordinate resources that are incoming to make sure that enough medics and engines or specialty units are responding, Coordinate with LEO scene command to make note of locations of PTs and set up an area where PTs can be moved to for better treatment, and continue to watch the scene as a whole to notice where resources may be needed vs. others (IE. there are 3 critical PTs on the north side and 2 green tags on the east so medics need to go to the north first).

As ICS you are to stand back and watch the scene as a whole rather than hyperfocus on specific aspects of a scene. This will help you be able to coordinate resources as a whole. This does mean you should be hands-off unless absolutely needed. You aren’t there to Micromanage each person on the scene, let them do their job and you do yours. You aren’t there to “Super Squirrel”, trying to do everything yourself, but rather you should stand back and coordinate others so that they can each work the scene and no one feels left out.

If you are uncomfortable acting as Command on a scene that is ok. If you are first on scene you can hand off command to Fire-COC or other personnel as they arrive on the scene, just tell them a quick summary of what's happening and what you have already done.

SWAT Medic

SAFR Personnel is allowed to activate with a tactical team as a medic, while as a tactical medic they are to be unarmed.
